The 2010-2011 scholarship is now available!

SWERVE is a non-profit, organizing resource for lesbian-focused social and civic activity in Utah. SWERVE supports charitable organizations and programs within the queer community and the community at large.

sWerve's mission is to strengthen our community by promoting positive images and experiences of queer/ lesbian/ bisexual/ transgender women in Utah, building community among women, creating women-safe places, and engaging in civic action including education and community service.

The SWERVE Scholarships are intended to assist in the education of women in the community who exemplify SWERVE’s mission.

Recipients are selected by a scholarship committee. Letters of application for this scholarship must be received by 1 August 2010.

Scholarship monies will be awarded in the form of a tuition check made out to the educational institution of your choice. Tuition may be used at any institution that offers post-high school education or training. SWERVE Scholarship must be utilized during the 2010-2011 school year.

On separate sheets, please submit a two-page essay in which you address the following criteria:
• A demonstrated commitment to SWERVE’s mission through employment, advocacy and/or volunteer activities
• A stated intent to pursue further education
• Financial need
